DIY Glitter Rain Boots With Bows Tutorial: Who else loves to rock rain boots on a beautiful sunny day? Me and my little girl definitely do. I think she picked it up from me 😉 . We love plopping on our wellies (or dinghies as my husband calls them) to do a bit of gardening or whatever knots, whether there are puddles to trudge through or not. I have a pink and white polka dot festive pair, but poor Lou only has a plain black rubber pair. Perfectly functional and acceptable, but not nearly stylish enough for a girl this lots of spunk.
So what to do, what to do?
Say it with me… ‘ReFASHion!!!!’
I was recently introduced to a great product called Krylon Glitter Blast Spray Paint. I made a DIY glitter lamp and shade with it and fell in love… heavy. This product claims to cover any material (with good reason) in a fabulous coat of glitter and stay put. Everything was going so well with my lamp, so I decided to try again. Here’s what I did with Lou’s $9.00 plain Walmart wellies, tips and tricks to follow.
Holy guacamole of cuteness, right? She’s a full blown fashionista with these beauties. I want to mate! I recommend giving the boots a healthy coat of clear enamel spray paint after the glitter has dried. This will help prevent peeling, rubbing and tearing. I made a nice thick coat out of the clear coat and the boots have worn a few times now. And let me tell you, Lou isn’t exactly a “petite” princess. She’s a stomping snail, a mud puddle that’s splashing, a pooch that’s chasing a hooligan. In other words, this shiznit is tough!
Jump for joy if you love glitter! What an awesome rain boot makeover!
